Our Prediction:

Blackburn will win

Blackburn – Millwall Match Prediction | 28-08-2019 10:00

Millwalls excellent home form will surely be enough to keep them up this term and we fancy it will be enough to see them get the points here too. However, things have been much better at home, with the Lions winning six, drawing four and losing three. Overall, the south London club have been very poor on their travels, losing nine of their 13 away league games thus far. In fact, 22 of Millwalls 28 points have come at The Den this term. Millwalls recent victory at Ipswich was their first Championship away win of the season. The Londoners have won six of their last nine matches on their own patch in all competitions, losing just one of those along the away.

Last weekend, Millwall came from behind thanks to two late goals by Shane Ferguson to beat in-form Hull City 2-1 at home in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup. The Lions then kicked off 2019 with a hard-fought 3-2 success against bottom club Ipswich Town at Portman Road. After beating Reading 1-0 at home on Boxing Day, Harris side ended 2018 with a 1-0 home victory over Nottingham Forest. Before picking up nine points from a possible nine, the Lions had gone eight matches without a win, losing five and drawing three. After three consecutive Championship wins, Millwall have moved six points clear of the bottom three and will be looking upwards, for now at least.

Blackburn Rovers vs Millwall Stats

The Lions have turned a corner of late, winning each of their last four in all competitions. Meanwhile, Blackburn secured an excellent victory over high flying West Bromwich Albion in their previous Championship match and so both teams come into this one with confidence high. Neil Harris Millwall welcome Tony Mowbrays Blackburn Rovers to The Den for an EFL Championship matchup on Saturday evening.

Indeed, the fact both of them signed new contracts in the summer is arguably the best bit of business Blackburn did during the transfer window. To further bolster the attack, striker Adam Armstrong, who was on loan at the club last season, has re-joined on a permanent deal, whilst Kasey Palmer has signed on loan from Chelsea and made his debut on Saturday. They could supplement the two attackers and chip in with some important goals and assists to ease any fears of relegation. In addition, the partnership of Danny Graham and Bradley Dack, who combined for 32 goals last season, also showcased their quality at this level with a goal each.

We think Blackburn and Millwall could be an entertaining match. Despite Blackburns imperious form at their own ground last season, which saw them lose only twice in the league there all season, we think Millwall could nick a goal but may not be able to win the match. So, a BTTS score bet looks assured at this stage, whilst a low-score draw at 1-1 reflects how hard it is to break Millwall down but also the difficulty to beat Blackburn at home.

Whilst the team had less shots and possession than Ipswich, they showed they could compete and more against established Championship teams and led the match for an hour. This will give manager Tony Mowbray great encouragement that they can repeat it against other teams across the division. However, there were a lot of positives to take away from the game.

The Lions, on the other hand, dropped a two-goal advantage in a draw with Middlesbrough and seeing that they often struggle on the travels, we do not believe that the visitors are capable of picking up all three points from the Riverside Stadium clash. A close encounter is on the horizon and we predict the two teams are going to play out a draw on day 2 of the new Championship campaign. Ewood Park will host Saturdays football game between Blackburn Rovers and Millwall. The Riversiders were on the verge of beating Ipswich at Portman Road Stadium at the weekend, but the Tractor Boys eventually scored the equalizer in the dying minutes of the match. Anyhow, the newcomers proved their worth on their return to the English second tier and they are definitely capable of grabbing something from their second game of the season.

The Lions, meanwhile, last got the better of Rovers in a league match in November 2012. Blackburn are unbeaten in their last six against Millwall. The last two meetings between the pair at The Den have both ended in entertaining 2-2 draws while the Lions have not beaten Blackburn in south London in any competition since a 2-1 league victory at the Old Den back in 1991.

Millwall will be aiming to extend their winning run in all competitions to five games when they host Blackburn Rovers at the Den. In their last meeting in the Championship the two teams played out a goalless draw. James Park in the FA Cup at the weekend, we are positive that the visitors are going to grab something from the Den clash. The capital club showed character in a come-from-behind FA Cup win over Hull City, but beating the Riversiders is easier said than done. The Lions are obviously determined to escape the danger zone and a win over Blackburn could see them move a little closer to the middle of the Championship table. Blackburn Rovers proved their worth in a 2-1 win over promotion-chasing WBA in their last league match and seeing that they produced a fine display in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United at St.

Blackburn couldnt close out their FA Cup fixture against Newcastle, and the extra match they will have to play will be hanging in the back of their minds. The team missed progression right out of the grasp of their hands. An 84th-minute penalty by the hosts equalized the score after the Riversiders led for the better part of the second half.

Highlighted Player (Shaun Hutchinson):

The Millwall defender has a contract with the club which expires on June 30, 2018 and it has to be noted that his preferred foot is left. Shaun Hutchinsons main position is centre-back, but he is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder as well. He made his debut for the Lions against Peterborough United on August 16, 2016 and he has been playing for the club ever since.
